Why would they cripple the sound on their BluRays? Especially on the movie that won the Oscar for Best Animated Picture. The difference between the 5.1 Dolby and the 7.1 Dolby True HD on my setup was night and day. It's just messed up that Sony wouldn't put Atmos on the regular BluRay. I was able to get 7.1 Dolby True HD via the Dolby Atmos downgrading to my old AVR with the 4K BluRay though, so I'm happy. In fact, my old BluRay player asked me if I wanted to play the new BluRay copy from where I left off so it's exactly the same disc as the regular BluRay. The regular BluRay that comes with that set is only Dolby 5.1 so exactly like the BluRay/DVD combo, so I'm confused by what you saw. /r/AverageJoeAudiophile for Two Channel Audio - DAC's Turntables, etc.ĪdamDXB, I bit the bullet and bought a 4K BluRay player and the 4K BluRay of Spiderman, even though I don't have a 4K TV or Dolby Atmos AVR yet.
